Foreign Minister travels to Bucharest to take part in Gymnich

Cyprus’ Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides travels to Bucharest on Thursday morning to take part in an informal meeting of EU FMs, known as Gymnich, which takes place on Thursday and Friday.

“During the informal Councils work EU Foreign Ministers will have the opportunity to exchange views on a series of topics which have to do with EU foreign relations,” a Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release says.

During the Councils first day, Ministers are set to discuss the Eastern Partnership Relationship, the situation and developments in Venezuela and recent developments in Syria, it notes.

During the second day, an exchange of views on EU – China relations will take place, it adds. The discussion on China will continue in the last session of the informal council which traditionally takes place with the participation of Foreign Ministers of countries which are candidates for EU accession.

On Friday morning, Christodoulides will take part in a meeting of EU Foreign Ministers who belong to the European Peoples Party (EPP).

He will return to Cyprus on Friday evening.
