The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, departs today, 16 October 2016, for Luxembourg, to participate in the Councils of Foreign Affairs (FAC) and General Affairs (GAC) to be held on 17 and 18 October respectively, while he will also participate in the extraordinary Foreign Affairs Council for Trade, to take place on 18 October.
The EU’s Global Strategy, the migration crisis and the situation in Tunisia will be on the focus during FAC’s deliberations. Moreover, during an unofficial working lunch, the Ministers will discuss the developments in Syria. The extraordinary Foreign Affairs Council for Trade will deal exclusively with the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement with Canada (CETA).
At the General Affairs Council, the Ministers will conclude the preparations for the European Council on 20-21 October 2016. Ministers will also take note of the state of play of the mid-term review of the EU’s Multiannual Budgetary Framework.
Minister Kasoulides returns to Cyprus on Wednesday, 19 October 2016.
