FM Kasoulides to visit Luxembourg, Hungary and Brussels

Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides will participate in the deliberations of the Foreign Affairs Council and the General Affairs Council of the European Union to be held on the 19 and 20 June in Luxembourg.

An official statement said that the agenda of the FAC meeting includes an assessment of the implementation of the EU Global Strategy, terrorism and the EU-NATO partnership. Developments in Iraq and Qatar will also be examined.

During the GAC meeting, ministers will prepare the European Council meeting to be held on 22-23 June and will agree on the GAC’s next 18 month schedule. The 27 ministers will also discuss issues related to the Brexit.

The Minister will also visit Hungary to hold an official visit at the invitation of the country’s Foreign Affairs and Commerce Minister Peter Szijjarto.

The two ministers will discuss bilateral issues and issues of common interest, the future of the EU in relation to the Brexit, the immigration issue and regional issues with emphasis on Syria. Kasoulides will also give a lecture on energy policy in Cyprus and security policy in eastern Mediterranean.

He will depart for Brussels to attend President Nicos Anastasiades’ meeting with Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras.
