Eurostat: Unemployment significantly lower in Cyprus this August compared to last year

In August 2021, the euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 7.5%, down from 7.6% in July 2021 and from 8.6% in August 2020. The EU unemployment rate was 6.8% in August 2021, down from 6.9% in July 2021 and from 7.7% in August 2020, according to figures are published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

 

In the case of Cyprus, the unemployment rate fell significantly to 4.4% (20 thousand people) in August 2021, compared to 5.2% in July 2021 (23 thousand) and compared to 8.6% (39 thousand) in August last year.

 

Eurostat estimates that 14,469 million men and women in the EU, of whom 12,162 million in the euro area, were unemployed in August 2021.
