European University, CCCI and Hellenic Management Association sign Charter of Excellence

?he European University of Cyprus, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Hellenic Management Association (EEDE) have signed a Charter of Excellence, launching a collaboration among them aimed at creating synergies between the academic and business community of Cyprus to promote excellence, with innovation, knowledge diffusion and sustainable development being the ultimate goals.

The three institutions will set up a network called AID of Excellence (Academic Industrial Diffusion of Excellence) to promote academic and business collaboration in generating sufficient knowledge and promoting excellence to solve economic and market-related problems and diffuse best practices for excellence.

The Charter was signed after a workshop held at the European University of Cyprus on Thursday.

Finance Minister Harris Georgiades spoke of an “extremely important” initiative of the private sector that will unite two of the most creative and productive forces of the society, that is academia and businesses in a joint effort aimed at securing quality and business excellence.

He pointed out that only by raising the quality bar will the competitive advantage of the economy be safeguarded.

Cyprus, the Minister noted, following the difficult conditions that prevailed in the recent past, must now manage new challenges related to taking advantage of opportunities and the next goal to expand its productive base, create new and well-paid jobs, make more effective use of its scientific personnel, cover the real needs of the society and ensure the sustainable development of the economy.

Today’s initiative serves this goal Georgiades said.
