Euro area unemployment at 8.1%, Cyprus at 7.1% in March, Euroarea inflation at 1.6% and 1.2% in Cyprus

In March 2021, the euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 8.1%, down from 8.2% in February 2021 and up from 7.1% in March 2020. The EU unemployment rate was 7.3% in March 2021, also down from 7.4% in February 2021 and up from 6.4% in March 2020. These figures are published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

In Cyprus unemployment increased to 7.1% (32 000 individuals, 7.7 for males and 6.5% for females) in March 2021, from 6.8% (31000 individuals) in February 2021 and 6.3% (28 000 individuals) in March 2020. Youth unemployment in Cyprus was 18.7% (7000 individuals), compared to 13.4% for March 2020 (5000 individuals).

Eurostat estimates that 15.520 million men and women in the EU, of whom 13.166 million in the euro area, were unemployed in March 2021. Compared with February 2021, the number of persons unemployed decreased
