EU28 will continue to monitor Turkey’s actions in the EEZ of Cyprus, according to draft conclusions

EU28 will continue to monitor Turkeys actions in the EEZ of Cyprus, according to the European Councils draft conclusions, which welcome the invitation of teh General Affairs Council to the Commission and the European External Action Service (EEAS) to submit options for appropriate measures without delay.

More specifically according to the draft conclusions seen by CNA the EU28 state the following:

“Concerning Turkeys continued illegal drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, the EU will, as set out in the Council conclusions of 18 June 2019, closely monitor developments and stands ready to respond appropriately and in full solidarity with Cyprus. The European Council welcomes the invitation to the Commission and the EEAS to submit options for appropriate measures without delay.”

According to sources familiar with the issue, the text might be enhanced or improved when discussed by the leaders.
