European Council will consider actions at its next meeting in case of non-reversal of Turkey’s actions in Varosha, says EU High Representative Josep Borrell in a declaration on behalf of the European Union on the issue.
According to the declaration, the European Union strongly condemns Turkey’s unilateral steps and the unacceptable announcements made by the Turkish President and the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community on 20 July 2021 on the further reopening of the fenced-off town of Varosha.
“The EU welcomes the Statement made by the President of the UN Security Council on behalf of the Council on 23 July 2021, and in particular the Security Council’s condemnation and expression of deep regret about the unilateral actions in Varosha that run contrary to the Security Council’s previous resolutions and statements.
