EU policies must aim at a secure, prosperous and human-centered Europe, Cypriot MP says

Cypriot MP Angelos Votsis has said that recent discussions on the Future of Europe and the White Bible prove the determination and the intense and collective efforts aiming at finding solutions to the multiple challenges which the EU faces.

According to a House press release, Votsis, who was speaking during a meeting of the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC) held in Tallin, Estonia, also underlined that the goals for a safe, prosperous and human-centered Europe must constitute the guiding lines of the future Union policies.

As regards the issue of the Unions security, Votsis underlined the need for effective cooperation with Turkey on issues of justice, freedom and security with all the EU members states and informed the participants on the problems arising regarding its cooperation with Cyprus, given the stance of Turkey which does not recognize the Republic of Cyprus, and its denial to cooperate with the Cypriot authorities.

Moreover, Cypriot MP George Georgiou speaking on the issue of “Brining Europe close to the citizens: the best practices of the national parliaments” said that the national parliaments have a major role to play in bridging the gap between the citizens and the Union.

MPs Eleni Stavrou and Constantinos Efstathiou also participate in the Cypriot delegation attending the session.
