EU member states give green light to COP21 on climate change agreement

EU member states, including Cyprus, gave today the final green light to the COP21, so-called Paris agreement on climate change, during an extraordinary Council meeting.

Cyprus was represented by Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Nicos Kougialis and formalities for the final ratification will begin next November in Marrakech, where COP21 will meet from the 7th to the 18th. EU Ministers also approved the negotiating mandate with which the EU will be represented there.
