EU High Representative Mogherini and Foreign Ministers bid Kasoulides farewell

EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and the EU Foreign Ministers, which met on Monday in Brussels, bade farewell and thanked Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, in a cordial and emotional atmosphere, as he participated for the last time in the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.

More specifically during the meeting of the Ministers, Federica Mogherini took the floor and referred to the excellent cooperation that described her long-standing relationship with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulides, both during her term in office as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy and subsequently as the High Representative.

Mogherini noted particularly “the wisdom of his analysis and the decisive spirit that characterized his interventions”, stressing that “under his political guidance, Cyprus foreign policy gained a totally European approach.”

Jan Asselborn the longest serving minister in todays meeting, also conveyed to Kasoulides the deepest collegial greetings of all his counterparts.

Foreign Minister Kasoulides will be in Brussels also tomorrow to participate in the EU General Affairs Council, which will focus on the preparation of the Spring European Council to be held on 22-23 March, as well as the Brexit guidelines (in 27 member states format).
