EU Council discusses World Trade Organisation reform and EU – US trade relations

The EU Council of Foreing Affairs, meets on Thursday, in Brussels, in its trade formation to discuss, among other things, the World Trade Organisation reform and recent developments in EU – US trade relations. Cyprus Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Yiorgos Lakkotrypis travels to Brussels today to take part in the meeting.

During the Council meeting, a press release issued by the press and information office reads, EU Trade Ministers will review the progress achieved in the work the World Trade Organisation reform, as well as the state of preparations for the next World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference, which takes place in June 2020 in Kazakhstans Nur-Sultan.

They will also discuss recent developments in EU – US trade relations and the implementation of trade agreements.

The European Commission, the press release adds, will also present the results of the 2019 Eurobarometer survey on international trade.

A working lunch during which trade relations with China will be discussed will follow the Counci meeting.

Lakkotrypis returns to Cyprus on Friday.
