The European Peoples Party convening in Malta for its annual congress is set to adopt an emergency resolution backing the Cyprus resolutions talks and calling the Turkish-Cypriot leader to resume negotiations and on Turkey to facilitate the process and maintain the momentum. The emergency resolution is going to be voted later this evening in Malta and reiterates that the best security guarantee for all the reunified Cyprus, is its very membership in the European Union, calling Turkey to withdraw its forces. The emergency resolution also backs Cyprus sovereign rights to explore and exploit natural resources in its exclusive economic zone. President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades arrived on Wednesday in Malta to participate in the EPP Congress.
