EP President apologizes for Polish MEP’s statements on women

European Parliament President Antonio Tajani said Monday he apologized to all women on behalf of Polish MEP Janusz Korwin-Mikke for his “particularly insulting statements”.

Speaking at the opening of the March plenary, in Strasbourg, Tajani noted that once the investigation on the matter is closed, he will announce a penalty “which will be in accordance with the gravity of the statements”.

“I am not prepared to tolerate similar behavior” Tajani added, noting that Korwin-Mikke attacked gender equality in an unacceptable way, insulting all women.

The Polish MEP had said recently that it is right for women to earn less that men, because they “are less intelligent”.
