Environmental protection expenditure in industry decreased in 2015

The total expenditure for environmental protection activities in industry in 2015 is estimated at Euros 23.7 million, which corresponds to 0.13% of the Gross Domestic Product, compared to Euros 28.4 million or 0.16% in 2014.

According to the results of a survey carried out by the Statistical Service, the manufacturing industries reported expenditures of Euros 19.6 million, the mining and quarrying industries and the electricity supply enterprises Euros 4 million and the water treatment and supply enterprises Euros 0.1 million.

In the manufacturing sector, where the largest amount of expenditure is reported, manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products accounted for Euros 6.6 million, manufacturing of food products for Euros 5.8 million, manufacturing of beverages for Euros 2 million and manufacturing of pharmaceutical products and preparations for Euros 1 million.

By environmental domain, expenditure related to the reduction of air emissions stood at Euros 8.3 million, the monitoring, treatment and disposal of waste Euros 7.7 million, the treatment of waste water Euros 6.5 million and other actions such as the abatement of noise and vibrations, the protection of soil and ground water and the protection of natural resources and biodiversity Euros 1.2 million.
