President of the Cyprus House of Representatives Annita Demetriou has said that enhancing cooperation between the parliaments of small EU states is imperative.
Demetriou addressing the works of the 14th Conference of the Presidents of Parliaments of Small European States which concluded on Monday, in Montenegro, also referred to the Cyprus problem and Turkish provocations noting that the Cyprus problem and the efforts to resolve it is a priority for the House of Representatives, a parliament press release says.
Demetriou who was speaking during a debate on parliamentary diplomacy, said that apart from their role in shaping foreign policy, parliaments are real factors of foreign policy since they are flexible and act in a supplementary capacity to traditional diplomacy.
