Energy Minister in Cairo and Abu Dhabi for international energy meetings

Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister Yiorgos Lakkotrypis travels today to Abu Dahbi to take part in the 9th General Meeting of the International Renewable Energy Sources Organisation (IRENA), between January 11 and 13.

Lakkotrypis will also participate at the Global Energy Forum of Atlantic Council think tank on January 11 on the sidelines of which he is also set to have a meeting with Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Energy Resources of the US State Department Frank Fannon, an announcement issued by the Press and Information Office (PIO) says.

On January 13, the Cypriot Energy Minister will travel to Cairo for the first Ministerial Meeting on East Med Gas Forum which will take place on Monday, January 14.

The Ministerial meeting in Cairo is an initiative by Egypt to establish the East Mediterranean Gas Forum aiming towards a regional, technical and commercial cooperation between producers of natural gas, buyers and transit countries of the Eastern Mediterranean, the press release says.

Cyprus will be one of the founding members of the Forum the actions of which are expected to facilitate the Permanent Secretariat of Trilateral Cooperation which will be hosted in the island.
