EMU Academic Staff Member Delivers Educational Talk on Raising Children

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Department of Elementary Education Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Yazgin delivered a talk titled Satisfactory Parenting to parents of children studying at Famagusta Vocational High School Kindergarten. The talk which touched upon scientific work regarding early child development and education, how to follow and support the developmental potential of children, healthy distinct boundaries for raising children, individuality, indomitableness, social and emotional intelligence and disposition-oriented parenting garnered a lot of interested from parents. The effect an environment has on the biological foundations of personality was discussed in the light of current scientific findings in addition to ways in which positive social behavior can be supported, social and emotional skills which are just as important as intelligence and how these skills should be supported via disposition. Attention was also drawn to the arrangements and principles that need to be taken into consideration when establishing a child’s developmental frame.

As an educational psychologist and academician that has been training teachers, carrying out research and meeting with different parties to share information that comes out of the university for many years, EMU Department of Elementary Education Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Yazgin thanked Famagusta Vocational High School Kindergarten administration and instructor Hulya Ozkosar for the role they played in arranging this event. In addition, kindergarten management and teachers indicated that meetings involving school and parent interaction will continue on a regular basis whilst thanking the parents who participated in the event as well as the speaker Assoc.
