Employment in Cyprus up by 4% in the first quarter of 2018

Total employed persons in Cyprus amounted to 391,701 in the period of January � March 2018, marking an increase of 4% compared with the respective period of 2017, according to a provisional estimate released by Cystat on Wednesday.

From the total of employed persons, 343,101 were employees and 48,600 were self-employeed.

The highest increase was observed in the economic activities of Construction (??CEF), Administrative and Support Service Activities (NACEN), Arts, Entertainment and Recreation (NACER), Accommodation and Food Service Activities (NACE I) and Real Estate Activities (NACEL).

Actual hours worked for the 1st quarter of 2018 are estimated at 175.908 (thousands); an increase of 3,9%, compared to the corresponding quarter of 2017, Cystat said.
