UNSG’s Special Advisor for Cyprus Espen Barth Eide will hold today separate meetings with the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus, President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, in the Swiss resort of Crans Montana, where negotiations for a Cyprus solution are underway since June 28th.

The discussion on the chapter of securities and guarantees (table 1) with the additional presence of the three guarantor powers (Greece, UK, Turkey) will begin at 1900 local time.

Meanwhile, Eide, the negotiators of the two communities and three more experts from each side discuss since 1600 the internal issues of the Cyprus problem (table 2).

CNA has learnt that Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis will later on brief the political leaders who are present in Crans Montana on the outcome of this morning’s meetings on all chapters.
