Eide: Talks in Switzerland will give better clarity on whether a solution in 2016 is achievable

UN Secretary Generals Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide has said that the Cyprus talks session that will take place in Switzerland on November 7-11 is important because it will give even better clarity on whether the goal to achieve a solution in the course of this year is achievable or not.

The UN-led Cyprus peace talks will continue in Mont Pelerin, in Switzerland, on 7 – 11 November, the UN announced on Wednesday evening, following a meeting between Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.

In statements after a meeting he had on Thursday with House President Demetris Syllouris, Eide said that there has been significant progress in the talks, but also we are all of us very clear that very important issues are yet to be settled, including the issue of territorial re-adjustments and the issue of security.
