Eide holds extraordinary meeting with Cyprus leaders

The UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide is in an extraordinary meeting with the leaders ahead of the afternoon session of the Cyprus Conference.

The meeting was called for by Eide who earlier in the day met twice with Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.

According to sources, a meeting on Security will start at 1900 CET with the participation of all delegations.

The Conference on Cyprus, being held under the auspices of the United Nations, started on Wednesday morning at Le Regent Congress Centre in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, with a view to reaching a negotiated settlement that would reunite Cyprus, divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion.
