Eide and Hoyer discuss EIB’s role in supporting the economic development of a united Cyprus

_: UN Secretary Generals Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide discussed on Monday here with the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Werner Hoyer the Banks role in supporting the economic development of a united Cyprus, following the possible reunification of the island.

According to a post by the UN in Cyprus on facebook, the Bank is soon slated to begin a feasibility study of the conditions on the island for its investment, starting with the identification of vital infrastructure projects in both communities, which have expressed support for the banks project proposal.

As noted “continuing his contacts on the island, the Special Adviser of the Secretary-General on Cyprus, Mr. Espen Barth Eide, today met in Nicosia with Dr. Werner Hoyer, President of the European Investment Bank (EIB).”

“The two had a good discussion about the Banks role in supporting the economic development of a united Cyprus following the possible reunification of the island,” the UN in Cyprus said.
