ISTANBUL: The Dow Jones Industrial Average and S and P 500 closed with losses Monday, retreating from their record-high levels. The Dow lost 62 points, or 0.16%, to finish at 39,069. The S and P 500 fell 19 points, or 0.38%, to 5,069. The Nasdaq, meanwhile, declined 20 points, or 0.13%, to end the session at 15,976. The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 0.07% to 13.74. The 10-year US Treasury yield lost 0.27% to 4.287%. The dollar index declined 0.15% to 103.78, while the euro gained 0.04% to $1.0851 against the greenback. Precious metals were mixed, with gold flat at $2,031 per ounce but silver decreasing 0.1% to $22.50. Oil prices were up slightly, with global benchmark Brent crude rising 0.04% to $81.73 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude adding 0.06% to $77.66. Source: Anadolu Agency
