Defence Ministers of Cyprus and Germany sign Agreement on the Exchange and the Mutual Protection of Classified Information

The Minister of Defence, Mr Christoforos Fokaides, and his German counterpart, Mrs Ursula von der Leyen, signed today, in the framework of their meeting held on the sidelines of the EU Defence Ministers Meeting in Valetta, Malta, an Agreement on the Exchange and Mutual Protection of Classified Information between Cyprus and Germany.

During their meeting, the two Ministers had the opportunity to review the so-far important cooperation between their two countries in the fields of security and defence, as well as ways for its further upgrade.

Views were also exchanged regarding the developments on the Permanent Structured Cooperation � PESCO in the field of defence, as well as on other issues of European interest. Minister Fokaides had the opportunity to brief his German counterpart on the initiatives and the cooperation developed by Cyprus, aiming at the promotion of security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Mr Fokaides addressed an invitation to his German counterpart to pay an official visit to Cyprus.
