Defence Minister to raise Turkish actions during EU Foreign Affairs Council

Minister of Defence Savvas Angelides will be flying to Brussels on Monday to participate in the EU Foreign Affairs Council, in a Defence Minister configuration, during which he will be briefing his counterparts on Turkey’s illegal actions against Cyprus, especially the latest developments in the Republic of Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone.

The Defence Ministers are expected to discuss issues concerning EU security and defence, the progress in the implementation of PESCO, the situation in sub-Saharan Africa, and EU-NATO cooperation.

Angelides will also participate in the meeting of the European Defence Agency’s steering board.

Furthermore, the Defence Ministers are expected to sign documents regarding the improvement of cross-border military transport within Europe.
