Defence Minister on an official visit to Egypt

Defence Minister Christoforos Fokaides departs today for Cairo, for an official visit to Egypt.

According to a press release, Fokaides who pays an official visit to Egypt for the 3rd time, will meet with his Egyptian counterpart General Sedki Sobhi.

The two Ministers are expected to discuss bilateral relations, issues of regional security and the latest developments in Syria as well as cooperation of the two countries on the struggle against terrorism.

They will also discuss cooperation on sea and energy security and crisis management. Fokaides is also expected to brief General Sobhi on the recent developments regarding the Cyprus problem.

During his visit, Defence Minister is also expected to sign the Annual Programme of Bilateral Military Cooperation in the framework of Defence Agreement signed between Cyprus and Egypt last year.
