Minister of Defence Charalambos Petrides, who is carrying out a working visit to the US held separate meetings with the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Robert Menendez and the American Jewish Committee Chief Executive Officer, David Harris in New York.
According toa press release issued by the Defence Ministry, Petrides spoke to the Economist Summit on Eastern Mediterranean security, highlighting Cyprus regional role as a credible partner on issues of defence and military cooperation that acts in the context of international law.
Referring to the Cyprus-US relations, Petrides said he is confident that “our defence cooperation with the US will be a great success story and an investment for the security and stability of the region.”
Furthermore, Petrides met with the President of the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations Kyriacos Papastylianou, and Hellenic American Leadership Council President Endy Zemenides.
