Defence Minister in Cairo for trilateral meeting and defence expo

Cypriot Defence Minister Savvas Angelides travels to Cairo where where he will attend the opening of defence exposition “EDEX-2018” and will take part in a trilateral ministerial meeting between Cyprus, Greece and Egypt.

Angelides is visiting the Egyptian capital following an invitation by Egyptian Defence Minister, General Mohamed Zaki to attend the “EDEX- 2018” expo which will be opened by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, a Defence Ministry press release issued here today says.

Over 40 countries which are active in the military industry will take part in the exposition which takes place for the first time, it adds.

A trilateral meeting of Ministers of Defence of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt will also take place in the context of Angelides’ visit, the press release continues.

It is expected that the trilateral meeting will review cooperation between the three countries so far and seek ways to further enhance it, it says.

The three ministers are also set to discuss regional security matters and other issues of common interest such as energy and maritime security in the Eastern Mediterranean region, the press release concludes.
