UN returns Turkish Cypriot map on territory at Akincis request, UN Spokesperson tells CNA

At the request of the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, the UN has returned the map which the Turkish Cypriot side tabled during the peace talks for a Cyprus solution on the 11th of January 2017, Aleem Siddique, UN Spokesperson in Cyprus told CNA on Thursday. Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis has said that the Greek Cypriot side was not informed by the United Nations that the map had been returned. Meanwhile, Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides has said that the announcement regarding the withdrawal of the map constitutes a clear attempt to intervene in Sunday’s presidential elections.
