Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra in Musikverein, President announces

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has announced that the Cabinet decided on Wednesday that the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra will from now on take part in Vienna’s Musikverein.

In his address, delivered on his behalf by Education and Culture Minister Costas Kadis, President Anastasiades said that acknowledging the quality of the Youth Symphony Orchestra and the role it can play in enhancing our cultural diplomacy abroad the Cabinet decided today to establish its presence in the renowned Musikverein of Vienna, in the context of the well established ‘Cypriot Concert’.

A vocal ensemble from Cyprus’ Music Schools will also take part in the same concert, he added.

President Anastasiades further stressed that the Cyprus’ youth constitutes the future of the country and that actions empowering young people to reach their potential are high in the government’s and the ministry’s priorities.

According to its official website the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra has over 80 members aged 9 to 26 years old, selected through auditions. It is a full member of the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras (EFNYO).
