A large number of shipowner national associations from all over the world attended the Annual General Meeting of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), which was held in Constantinople, in Turkey, on May 10-11.
The Cyprus shipping industry was represented by the Director General of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Thomas Kazakos.
According to press release issued by the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, the deliberations of the Annual General Meeting, mainly focused on the position of the international shipping community in relation to the discussions being held at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) regarding the continuous efforts of the international shipping industry to reducing even further the amount of green house gas emissions from ships.
In addition, during the Meeting, an in-depth discussion was held on the upgrading of the image of shipping internationally, as the largest blood-donor of world trade and, by extension, the world economy.
