Cyprus Representative presents credentials to IRENA

Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Yiannis Michalides presented his credentials to Director General of IRENA Francesco La Camera, who expressed certainty that Cyprus could become a regional centre for renewable energy sources.

During the presentation of his credentials, on December 15, Michaelides conveyed Cyprus’ willingness to actively participate in IRENA and its actions regarding renewable energy sources.

He furthermore briefed him on Cyprus’ initiative to host the 7th International Conference on Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency, as well as the initiative launched by President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades to address climate change. Michaelides also referred to the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone.

Michaelides also expressed certainty that the excellent cooperation between Cyprus and IRENA will be further enhanced.
