Cyprus re-elected member of the IMO Council

Cyprus has been re-elected as a member of International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council for another two years, during the organization’s General Assembly held on Friday in London.

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber issued a press release congratulating the Cyprus Shipping Administration and especially the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and the Department of Merchant Shipping for this important achievement of Cyprus’ shipping sector.

The re-election to the Council of the International Maritime Organization, whose main task is to determine the global maritime policy and legislation, is of great importance as it gives Cyprus the opportunity to continue its active contribution to policy-making on international shipping, as well as to promote the interests of Cyprus shipping internationally, the press release concluded.
