Cyprus ranks first at the medal count in the European Judo Championship of the Small States

With six gold medals, four silver and six bronze, Cyprus ranked first among eight countries, at the medal count in the European Judo Championship of the Small States, which took place on November 5-6, in Luxembourg.

A total of 45 men and 21 women from all countries participated in the Championship and, as the Cyprus Judo Association announced, Cyprus participated with a large number of athletes, which indicates that there is a rising interest for the sport in the country.

The European U18 Championship of the Small States also took place at the same time. Cyprus participated with 16 athletes and also ranked first, with six gold, four silver and three bronze medals.

The technical director of the Cyprus Judo Association, Christos Christodoulides, said that this event offered many athletes the opportunity to participate in a European Championship and expressed his satisfaction for their performance.
