Cyprus President pays Lebanon official visit

Bilateral relations, regional matters, relations between the EU and Lebanon but also recent developments in the Cyprus reunification process are expected to be discussed during the meetings Cyprus President Nicos Anstasiades will have in Lebanon in the context of his official visit to the country.

President Anastasiades, who arrived in Beirut yesterday, begins his official three day visit to Lebanon today accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, Energy Minister Yiorgos Lakkotrypis and Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides, a presidency press release issued here today says.

He is due to be officially welcomed at 1100 hours local time (0800 GMT) by Lebanon’s President Michel Aoun and together they will then chair consultations between the delegations of the two countries, the press release adds.

During the consultations, they are set to discuss, among others, about bilateral relations, regional matters, EU � Lebanon relations and recent developments in the Cyprus problem, it continues.

After their talks, the two Presidents will make joint statements to the media followed by an official working lunch hosted by Aoun in honour of Anastasiades.

In the afternoon, President Anastasiades will have a meeting with Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Rai, the press release concludes.
