Cyprus President in Rome for southern EU countries summit

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades is in Rome to take part in the 4th Summit of the seven southern EU countries together with the heads of state or government of Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Malta.

“In the context of the summit which will begin at 2000 hours Cyprus time (1800 GMT), heads of state or government will hold consultations on matters pertaining to the Economic and Monetary Union (??U) integration, EU migration policy, as well of promoting an ambitious vision which will guarantee growth, employment and investments,” a presidency press release, issued here today, says.

Leaders will make statements to the media at about 2100 hours Cyprus time (1900 GMT) and will then take part in a working dinner, it adds.

President Anastasiades is expected to have bilateral meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni on the sidelines of the summit.

He is accompanied by Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides.
