Cyprus President discusses with Fabius settlement prospects and relations with France

Upgraded relations between Cyprus and France and developments regarding the Cyprus issue were discussed on Friday, during a meeting between the President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and the former Prime Minister of France and President of the Constitutional Council Laurent Fabius.

An announcement by the Presidency of the Republic notes that during the meeting, at the Presidential Palace, in Nicosia, President Anastasiades informed Fabius about the latest developments and efforts to resume talks for a Cyprus settlement.

The two men also exchanged views about the continuous upgrade in Cyprus-France relations and discussed the ongoing initiative of President Anastasiades, regarding the coordination of regional actions and policy on climate change.

Fabius, who played a decisive role in formulating the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, congratulated the President of Cyprus for this initiative and expressed his readiness to contribute.

The President of Cyprus expressed finally his deep regret, and that of the people of Cyprus, for the blast in Notre Dame, in Paris, and was informed by Fabius about the next moves for its reconstruction.
