Cyprus President decorated with Greece’s Grand Cross of the Order of the Redeemer

I will do my utmost to deserve this honour, Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, after the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, decorated him during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Athens with the Grand Cross of the Order of the Redeemer, that is awarded to distinguished personalities.

On her part, after awarding the Grand Cross to Christodoulides, Sakellaropoulou said: ‘Mr. President this decoration constitutes the highest distinction of the Hellenic Republic. It is awarded to you both for your service until now and now in your capacity as President of the Republic of Cyprus and as an honour for the people of Cyprus’.

Christodoulides thanked Sakellaropoulou, noting that this is a great honour for him. He noted that this honour is accompanied by obligations as well.

What is needed most is to respond to these obligations and to achieve through our governance to respond to all the things that the people of Cyprus expect from us, Christodoulides noted.
