Cyprus President conveys condolences for Kabul attack

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has conveyed his condolences to the President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani over the recent terrorist attack in Kabul, pointing out the need for solidarity and concerted action in order to combat terrorism decisively and effectively.

According to a presidency press release, in his message President Anastasiades expresses his deep sadness for the great loss of life and injuries caused by the brutal terrorist attack in Kabul, on 31st May 2017.

This heinous crime, his message reads , is another crude reminder of the terrorist threat to our societies and shows once again the need for solidarity and concerted action in order to combat terrorism decisively and effectively.

On behalf of the people and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the families, friends and loved ones of those killed and injured, it continues.

At this time of sorrow, the message concludes, our thoughts and prayers are with the Government and the people of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
