Cyprus President conveys condolences about former Japanese PM

The political leadership of Cyprus expressed its condolences on the assassination of former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, on Friday.

In a post on his personal Twitter account, President Nicos Anastasiades said he was “appalled to hear about the vicious assassination of former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe. May his soul rest in peace. At these difficult moments, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the friendly people of Japan.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus also extended its condolences “to the Government and the people of #Japan as well as the close family and friends of former PM #Abe Shinzo”.

“We join in their sorrow over his loss, following the horrific attack on his life earlier today”, said the Ministry in a Twitter post.
