Cyprus Parliamentarian Nicos Tornaritis, head of the Cypriot delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) is traveling to Paris Monday, to participate in sessions of the Political Affairs and Democracy Committee of PACE and the Monitoring Committee on the Honouring of Obligations and Commitments by Member States of the Council of Europe, which take place between December 13 and 15.
An announcement says that the session of the Political Affairs and Democracy Committee will deal with issues such as the convening of a Summit at the level of heads of state of the Council of Europe, the evaluation of the institution of Partnership for Democracy between the PACE and parliaments of non-European countries, the need to strengthen participatory multilateralism and ensure peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
In the context of the session of the Monitoring Committee, Tornaritis in his capacity as Rapporteur on the evaluation of the progress of Montenegro, in relation to the acquis of the Organization, will present his report, following a working visit to the country last July.
The Commission will also discuss the progress of a number of Council of Europe member states in relation to their contractual obligations, as well as relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
