Cyprus’ House President receives Greece’s Minister for Labour and Social Affairs

The close ties between Cyprus and Greece were reaffirmed on Tuesday during a meeting in Nicosia between the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou and Greece’s Minister for Labour and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis. The two officials also stressed the importance of the exchange of know-how, best practices and information for the benefit of the interests of both countries.

 

According to a press release by the House of Representatives, Demetriou received Hatzidakis, who is in Cyprus in the context of the signing of a cooperation agreement between the competent ministries of Cyprus and Greece for the provision of know-how to Cyprus regarding the ERGANI II recruitment information system and the electronic Labour Card, “which are successfully implemented in Greece”.

 

The aim, the press release said, is the implementation of similar systems in Cyprus, adapted to the needs of the Cypriot labour market, aiming to tackle undeclared work, protect labour rights and at the general adoption of good practices that will upgrade the welfare state.

 

During the meeting, in addition to reaffirming the close ties between Cyprus and Greece, the usefulness of the exchange of know-how, best practices and information for the benefit of the interests of both countries was emphasized on both sides, the announcement concludes.
