Cyprus House hosts meetings of Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy

The House of Representatives will be hosting a meeting of the International Secretariat, Chairpersons and Committee Rapporteurs of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO), with the participation of delegations from 13 IAO member states, namely Egypt, Albania, Armenia, Georgia, Greece, Jordan, Lithuania, Montenegro, Palestine, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Sudan.

According to a press release, the meeting will take place in Limassol from April 2 to 4. Issues on the agenda are recent IAO activities and the planning of new activities, as well as preparations for the 26th General Assembly, to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, in June 2019.

During their stay in Cyprus, the delegates will be received by President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, Archbishop Chrysostomos II and House President Demetris Syllouris. They will also meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides and will visit sites of religious, historical and cultural interest.

The Cyprus Delegation comprises MPs Angelos Votsis (Chair), Costas Constantinou, Evanthia Savva and Elias Myrianthous.

On April 3, Archbishop Chrysostomos and Education and Culture Minister will inaugurate an exhibition of icons on Christs Resurrection , to mark the 25 years of the Assembly. The exhibition will remain open until May 10.
