Cyprus hosts workshop for key threats in areas of defence and security

Cyprus has hosted a workshop aimed at mapping the key threats in the areas of defence and security, identifying deficiencies and best practices to ensure infrastructure protection and energy autonomy.

The workshop took place last week and it was organized by the Cyprus Defence Ministry at the premises of the Cyprus University of Technology.

A press released issued on Monday says that the workshop was attended by national representatives from Greece and Cyprus, as well as representatives from the European Defence Agency and the Joint Research Center of the European Commission.

The work achieved will form the basis of the initiative taken by the Ministries of Defence of Cyprus and Greece, in cooperation with academic and research institutions, to develop an EU policy to strengthen the protection of critical energy infrastructures in the field of safety and security Defense.

The group of experts consists of officials and academics from Cyprus University of Technology, the European University, the Metsovion University of Athens and the National Center for Research and Technological Development.
