Cyprus has a key role in the stability and security of the Eastern Mediterranean says Tajani

President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani said that Cyprus has a key role in the stability and security of the Eastern Mediterranean, ahead of his official visit in Cyprus on Friday.

Since its accession to the EU in 2004, Cyprus is also a protagonist in the change that we need to realise for a Europe closer to its citizens, delivering on citizens concerns, on migration, employment and climate change, he added.

He also said that the European Parliament stands with Cyprus and its citizens to reach a solution for reunification in line with the values and principles upon which the European Union is founded.

During his visit the President will deliver an address at the Cypriot House of Representatives and participate in a debate with Cypriot Youths on the future of the European Union.

On Friday morning Tajani will meet at 9.20 (local time) with President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, followed by statements to the press on 9.50.

At 10.20 he will meet with President of the House of Representatives, Demetris Syllouris and at 11.00 they will make press statements.

At 11.25 President Tajani will address the House of Representatives. At 12.20 he will participate on a debate on the Future of Europe with Cypriot youths.

President Anastasiades will host an official lunch in honor of President Tajani at 13.10.
