Cyprus Foreign Ministry’s Permanent Secretary briefed embassies on Cyprus Issue and developments in EEZ

A briefing on the recent developments in the Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Cyprus Issue was organized in Athens, on Tuesday, November 26, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Greece.

The briefing was given by the Ambassador and Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Cyprus, Tasos Tzionis, to the Athens-based Ambassadors, who are accredited in Cyprus.

As regards the issue of the EEZ, Tzionis stressed that the Republic of Cyprus has repeatedly called on Turkey to participate in the process of delimitating the EEZ, which Turkey refuses. Moreover, Tzionis referred extensively to the importance of the trilateral alliances in the region, while underlining that these alliances do not represent a threat to any state.

The Permanent Secretary also briefed the Ambassadors on the recent developments as regards the Cyprus Issue, expressing the view that the role of Turkey is not productive for finding a beneficial solution for all the people in the island, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.
