Cyprus’ Foreign Minister to address PACE plenary and attend Valletta’s Gymnich

Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides will address on Monday the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, and hold contacts with officials there. The Minister will have more meetings during the course of next week in Brussels, Luxembourg and Valletta, before returning to Cyprus.

According to an announcement by the Foreign Ministry, published by the PIO, Kasoulides, in his capacity as Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, will inform the Assembly about the progress in implementing the priorities of the Cyprus Chairmanship of the CoE.

He will also meet with the Secretary General of the CoE ThorbjA�rn Jagland and PACE President Pedro Agramunt.

While in Strasbourg, the Minister will also sign, on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus, the Additional Protocol to the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism.

Kasoulides will then depart for Brussels, to attend on April 26 a working lunch with European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos, to discuss visas for European citizens entering the US.

Later on, he will travel to Luxembourg to take part on Thursday, April 27, at the extraordinary General Affairs Council, examining the draft guidelines for the Brexit negotiations.

Moreover, Kasoulides will fly to Malta to attend the informal meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers (Gymnich) that will discuss, among other issues, developments in Turkey.

While in Valletta, the Minister will attend on April 29 the EU-South Regional Dialogue, an informal ministerial meeting organized by the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU. Kasoulides returns to Cyprus on April 30.
