Cyprus FM discusses bilateral relations, trilateral cooperation with Greece, Cyprus problem and regional challenges with Egyptian counterpart

Cyprus Foreign Minister, Ioannis Kasoulides, discussed on Thursday, in Cairo, with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Soukry, about Cyprus – Egypt strategic bilateral relations, the trilateral cooperation with Greece, the Cyprus problem and regional challenges.

Kasoulides said in a post on his Twitter account that he greatly appreciated “the warm welcome & hospitality afforded by my good friend & colleague FM Shoukry today in Cairo.”

He added that the issues on the agenda were Cyprus – Egypt strategic bilateral relations, the trilateral cooperation with Greece, the Cyprus problem and regional challenges.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results.
