Some thirty three thousand volunteers have so far shown interest in taking part in the campaign Lets do it Cyprus! on Sunday 2. The aim of the campaign, part of the worldwide campaign Let’s do it World! is to clean the environment from all the garbage. Last year, according to a press release by the Environment Commissioner, 15,000 citizens in Cyprus took part.
The campaign is supposed to be the biggest volunteer event in the world that brings citizens together and mobilises them against the destruction of the environment. The idea was borne in 2008 in Estonia and now more than 100 countries around the world participate.
?he campaign in Cyprus is organised by the network of volunteers and the Environment Commissioner with the support of the Volunteer Commissioner, the Forest Department and the local authorities.
